Aspirin is a synthetic compound.
Aspirin in small doses can help prevent heart attacks and saves countless lives.
Natural substances including aflatoxins (found in peanuts and corn especially), bacteria (E. coli anyone?), and lead, not healthy for humans.
Just because something is natural does not mean it is good for you. Just because something in synthetic does not mean it is harmful. Dosage - exposure amount, and hazard - exposure route, are much more important.
There are more and more ‘natural alternatives’ for pest control these days.
Before choosing a natural material you should understand that many ‘natural’ materials have the following short comings:
They typically have little to no residual and they can be much less effective - This means they may need to be reapplied more often. This often increases your total exposure.
If they are formulated as an emulsifiable concentrate - This means that they absorb more quickly into your system, include man made chemicals solvents that are smelly and more toxic than the natural ingredient, and almost always need a more toxic synergist to be effective.
Natutral materials are usually more acutely toxic than synthetic alternatives.
They tend to have a high degree of odor - like very strong perfume.
Naturally occurring dust insecticides while effective when applied properly- often contain talc, diatomaceous earth, or silica gel. All of these materials should be applied with extreme care wearing proper safety gear, and only in areas of no human contact and no air flow into human inhabited areas.
Synthetic materials undergo incredible amounts of testing that natural materials do not and are held to higher standards.
Having said all that – some natural materials work very well.
We are more than happy to present you with your choice of application material or to discuss the various available natural and synthetic materials to arrive at solution to your needs.
